My Home Town Cultivating Crops

I live in Chikmagalur “The Coffee Land”, Being in Chikmagalur it feels I'm being on the top of the world and is known for its tranquil atmosphere, lush green forests, and towering mountains. It is also known for its coffee, and is sometimes referred to as Karnataka's coffee land.

Basically, I live in Hoovinaklu which is a smaller village in Koppa Thaluk which is surrounded with wonderful people, Coffee Plantations, Tea Estates, Areca nut Plantations, Rubber Plantations, Coco Plantation’s and Black Pepper and Cardamom etc.

So I would take an opportunity and explain some of the crops in Chikmagalur Belt or Region. Following are the cultivated crops in Chikmagalur.

 COFFEE PLANT 



Most commonly Arabica and Robusta coffee beans are grown in Karnataka's Chikmagalur. Coffee plants are mainly grown in heavy rainfall areas which is malnad (CKM)and Coorg. They are also grow in Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, Many people in Chikmagalur are depended on coffee crop. there are also some of mojor well known coffee plantation and coffee estates. 


COCOA PLANT/TREE 




Cocoa Plants/Tree are manly cultivated in karmnata, kerala and tamil Nadu. They are mainly grown with Areca nut. Cocoa plant by which chocolate powder and production of chocolate is used. The dried seeds are used in production. Chocolate is made from cocoa, which is the dried and entirely fermented fatty seed of the cacao tree. cocoa powder is a dry powder made from cocoa seeds that has been ground.

 

Rubber Tree 


Rubber is currently harvested mostly in the form of latex from rubber trees or other sources. Latex is a sticky, milky, white colloid that is extracted from the bark by creating incisions and storing the fluid in vessels, a procedure known as "tapping." After that, the latex is processed into rubber, which is ready for commercial use. Latex is permitted to coagulate in the collection cup in major areas.

Tea Plant



Karnataka is one of India's leading tea producers; Chikmagalur, Hassan, and Shimoga are the state's three major coffee plantation regions, while Kodagu or Coorg is the state's only tea plantation. Not only coffee also is being grown inside chikmagalur.

Areca nut 



The famous chewing nut, also known as betel nut or Supari, comes from the arecanut palm. It is widely used in India by a large number of people and is closely associated with religious traditions. India is the world's largest producer of arecanuts, as well as the world's largest consumer. Karnataka and Kerala are two of the most important states that grow this crop.

Black Pepper


Lack pepper is a tropical plant that needs a lot of rain and humidity. It thrives in the hot, humid climate of the Western Ghats' sub-mountainous regions. Black pepper is creeper which grown along with areca nut trees. 

 Cardamom



Cardamom spice which is grown in the colder temperature zoned and rain fall zones, which basically chikmagaluru, malanad region. cardamom is an essintial spice in the Indian styled food recipes.




These were the some of the agricultural crops which are being grown in chikmagalur belt, also in my village and its surroundings.
